Mikado Technique & Wedding Floristry
Part 1 – Spring/Summer / Sustainability – Master Class Workshop
February 23–24, 2026
Language: Slovak
This Olomouc date was the first stage of the Mikado Masterclass (Spring/Summer) and was designed as an intensive, hands-on workshop focused on wedding floristry, working with the Mikado technique, and principles of sustainability. It was not a "one-day inspiration," but a systematic, step-by-step approach so participants could take away methods they can use immediately in their practice and apply to real orders.
Who the workshop was for and how we worked
The workshop was intended for florists who want a clear technique in their hands, repeatable results, and confidence in construction. We intentionally work with a smaller number of participants—we focus on quality, not quantity. Thanks to that, everyone had room for specific questions, process checks, and personal feedback. Throughout the day, it was possible to consult Robert (many years of industry experience) about specific real-order situations: from material selection and technical details to organizing work for wedding installations.
What participants learned
Over two days, we covered the Mikado technique in depth—not only as a method for creating bouquets, but as a system applicable to other sellable products as well. The goal was for participants to understand the construction principle, repeat it across different product types, and adapt the technique to different flowers, shapes, and client requirements. The focus was on practice, good working habits, stability and clean execution, working with form and proportion, and sustainability in day-to-day floristry operations.
Program and creation outcomes
During the workshop, participants created concrete portfolio outputs while also mastering processes that lead to sellable products. Each participant independently created:
2× bouquets
1× wreath
The program also included group work as a simulation of preparation before a real event, where we trained team coordination, planning, and role distribution—exactly as it happens in wedding projects:
1× large spatial arrangement (teamwork)
table centerpiece decoration (teamwork)
Flowers, materials, and stepping outside the "comfort zone"
We worked with a large amount of materials, as well as uncommon flowers and new varieties that aren't used every day in typical practice. The aim was for everyone to try working with new species, adopt suitable preparation methods, and gain more confidence even in situations where the material isn't "standard" or is new to them. This helps participants expand their options and be ready for a broader range of real orders.
Facilities and service for participants
The workshop also included high-quality support: excellent catering, homemade desserts, and restaurant lunches tailored to each participant. Comfort and good facilities matter—because when participants are well taken care of, they can fully focus on performance, detail, and real learning.
What participants took into practice
After this date, participants leave with a clear understanding of the Mikado technique, concrete portfolio outputs, experience with teamwork and a realistic wedding-prep simulation, greater confidence when working with new materials, and the ability to apply the technique to other sellable products.
If you'd like to continue on the certification path, the Autumn/Winter part expands techniques, materials, and work in different seasonal conditions. After completing both stages, you will receive the official Mikado Masterclass certificate.
